Ouya Sold Out in The United States, But Has Not Yet Reached Some of The Backers on Kickstarter

The launch of last Tuesday, the Android console was quite encouraging, especially overseas. But there seem to be some problems in deliveries, especially for the so-called ' backer ', i.e. those who have financed the project on Kickstarter.

The Kickstarter page, in fact, had enabled those concerned to buy the console in advance for $ 99, with a guarantee that, at first, you would have received the console ahead of the debut in stores. Despite the promises, however, a number of ' backer ' is still waiting to get my hands on your unit.

"I am very angry at the fact that some of you have not yet received their Ouya units," wrote Julie Uhrman, founder of the company that promotes the new micro-console, in an update on Kickstarter titled Gonna fix this.

Ouya accuses an unspecified Chinese partners for delays, as well as DHL, which would not have been punctual with deliveries. "In recent months, we have faced many challenges that have covered the balls both software and hardware. We tried to overcome them in order to bring to market the best product we can, "said Ken Stephens, Chief of operations for Ouya.

"We made sure that these challenges do not have an impact on our early supporters, but unfortunately we did not succeed fully in our purpose".

At the same time, according to a report of Develop, Ouya is already sold out on Amazon websites US and GameStop. But it appears that the Android console is still widely available in Europe, for example on GAME, while Amazon UK gives availability from 2 July (can't list on Amazon IT).

Ouya is definitely a very interesting system, mainly for the fact to give space to independent productions. All games for Ouya must be somehow free to play, and then offer a substantial portion of the game for free. The console uses a modified version of Android "Jelly Bean", while the Twitchtv application for sharing game footage is pre-installed. The case is physically openable without big efforts, while each unit is also devkit, to entice users to develop new games.

Ouya is based on a quad core processor, Tegra 3 and is equipped with 1 GB of RAM, with internal flash memory 8 GB. The console also boasts HDMI connection to the TV, while the frame is an ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port. In the box there is the wireless controller with two analog stick, d-pad, eight action buttons, a button and a touchpad by 3 inches.

However, items of concern persist. The console seems to have some uncertainties in the functioning, especially in terms of latency of the controller. The games, already at launch are available 150, in addition, does not seem to offer much more and different than what you can find on the App Store and Google Play. The console then needs a better organisation and a presentation to provide a rewarding experience as the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

Ouya has already announced that it will upgrade your system from year to year, constantly releasing new versions of the console. The first impression is that this first release is little more than an experiment, while things should become much more functional and already finished with the second iteration. The launch of last Tuesday, the Android console was quite encouraging, especially overseas.
